Surroundings of Vallegaia
Medieval villages, some with Orange Flag status, are within easy reach of the Holiday Park. Casale Marittimo boasts recent Etruscan excavations, Montescudaio is famous for its Vin Santo, Bibbona has a fascinating old, medieval centre and most famous of all, Bolgheri, with its famous Sassicaia winery that is part of the local Wine Route. Every village has a rich calendar of festas, country fairs and cultural events that run from spring through to the end of autumn.
Cecina is only 6 km from us – just a bicycle or quick car ride away. A favourite destination on the Etruscan Riviera thanks to its well-equipped/serviced beaches and a promenade with a good choice of restaurants and a variety of summer-long entertainment. In addition to several shopping centres, the town’s historic heart also boasts a selection of smaller shops and boutiques and a characteristic street market every Tuesday. Cecina is also home to our local hospital with accident and emergency services, doctor’s surgeries and is a major hub for local rail and bus lines.
A 30 minute drive along the panoramic highroad that runs along the Etruscan Coast line will take guests to Livorno, the provincial capital and the nearest airport is Pisa’s Galileo Galilei that is only 40 minutes away by motorway.
The sea is really close to the Holiday Park. Marina di Cecina and Marina di Bibbona with their beautiful sandy, well-serviced beaches are only 9 km away. The famous nature reserve, Tomboli di Cecina is located between the two resorts and its thick woods, providing welcome shade in which to relax, have been made accessible to all with walking/running/bicycle trails and picnic areas. Sandy dunes on the free beaches have a romantic air. They are never crowded and the wild lilies and sea poppies add to their beauty. A well-signposted dog beach means even beloved pets can enjoy a day at the seaside with their owners. The Etruscan Coast, which stretches between Livorno and Piombino, boasts a wide variety of beaches, from the pebbles and rocks at Romito to the famous white beaches in Vada and the long stretches of golden sand in Donoratico and San Vincenzo that overlook the fascinating Gulf of Baratti. The wonderful beaches on the Island of Elba and other pearls of the Tuscan Archipelago are easily accessed by boats that run from the tourist ports on a daily basis.
